I’m Kelly, a 22-year-old journalism student from Melbourne. Before I studied journalism, I was training to be a professional dancer. Unfortunately, that didn’t work out. Due to injury I had to give that up and focus on something else, so I enrolled in a journalism course because I liked writing. Now I know that it’s not just writing I’m interested in, but the whole media industry. I particularly like interviewing interesting people, especially musicians!
An internship at Rolling Stone magazine was a great way to top off my journalism course. You can read some of my work there, as well as weekly in the Melbourne street-press mag Beat. I’m currently doing my honours year in journalism, writing about sharks in the media and the need for us to protect this endangered animal.
Once I finish my course, I hope to gain a job in the media writing about everything from news to politics and, of course, music. This is my first music related blog and I hope you enjoy it.
